Digital Transformation

The client was implementing SAP S4 Hana globally, replacing numerous legacy systems. The client faced challenges in completing data validation for over 80 countries due to the complexity of mappings, transformations, and volume of locations. The team produced 500+ validation files to support the client’s user acceptance testing (UAT) by leveraging bots to assist in downloading the reports and Alteryx to ingest files and prepare validation files. The team identified nearly 1,000 defects, resulting in significant updates to conversion programs across master and transactional data related to Customers, Venders, Open AP, Open AR, GL, Fixed Assets, HFM, and Royalties for over 80 locations.

Business Intelligence

Created a Tableau (and Power BI iteration) dashboard to enhance analysis of nonconformances and support monitoring of controls to help identify outliers and trends to minimize future nonconformances and better track/analyze rework. Developed an automated extract, transform, load (ETL - Alteryx) workflow that modifies unstructured data fields and cleans/structs the fields for ingestion into the client’s dashboard. Designed a prototype for a workflow review and approval process through Power Apps for a consistent and standardized process document and reconcile nonconformances.

Process Automation

Created an automation to support the financial statement close process. Automated journal entries within the client’s system with considerations of the nature, complexity, and volume of the given entries as well as the operating effectiveness of the existing application controls. Automated account reconciliations utilizing a data workflow management tool in conjunction with Robotic and Process Automation (RPA). Implemented an automation via Alteryx to allocate quarterly schedules to given departments on the quarterly basis.

Internal Audit Modernization

Analytics Team’s primary contact for day-to-day operations with project teams of over 50 individuals across multiple Lines of Service and client’s BUs to ensure the successful completion of milestones within budget, on-time, and maintaining high-quality standards. Led process improvement initiatives with the use of testing and the creation of dashboards/automations to help client identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and waste in business process. Utilize data analysis to derive insights/trends and conduct tests from large complex data sets, driving data-driven decision-making across the clients. Reviews have covered various topic areas including Procurement, Order to Cash, Quality Assurance, General Controls, Post-Implementation, Payroll, Anti-Corruption, Cycle Count, and Time Keeping.

Intelligent Controls

Performed a reconciliation on the client’s expense detail, fund requests, and issued purchase orders. Performed a three-way match between third-party invoices, funding reports, and original POs to identify potential discrepancies. Uncovered $27M (total expenses of $250M) of potential discrepancies between the client’s fund request and expense register. Issued POs were underfunded by $14M and found $188K of duplicate invoices. Constructed automations to help reconcile 310k records of expense data across the 2 quarters of observed data. Workflow can be leveraged for future use in automating the client’s Procure to Pay process and the creation of automated controls to prevent errors throughout the entire end-to-end process or an automated reconciliation on a frequent basis.

Revenue Automation

Assisted in the implementation of a large-scale finance/ERP software to automate revenue and align with ASC 606 standards. Helped drive synergy and integration across a cross-functional team, assisting primarily on the data conversion workstream.

Lease Re-Abstraction

Served as a contractor working directly under a client to help extract and analyze leases when undergoing an accounting change. Client was preparing to go public and align with newly created ASC 842. Client was a Hospitality company specializing in leasing and managing short term rentals. I served directly under the client’s team working as a contractor going through their portfolio of properties. I was tasked with abstracting, analyzing, and documenting the lease contracts and any amendments to assist with a rent reconciliation. Provided insight on proper accounting supporting by the lease contract as well as amendments. Was able to create/build upon a client relationship that allowed for multiple extensions and additional revenue of over $75K.

Data Quality Risk Assessment

Assisted in the creation of a risk assessment that tested the completeness and accuracy of a data conversion for a client transitioning Lease Accounting software. Created a comparison from the lease contract and lease profile exported from their source system. Within the comparison, I created tests/flags to bucket the variances by mutual errors. I also created the final deliverable, located missing documentation, performed manual checks to ensure data was consistent, and created the documentation for the overall team’s procedures. Realty has recently transitioned property data from MRI system of record to YARD. Procedures were performed to assess the data quality of MRI, based on the top 25 most material leases within the acquired property portfolio. The assessment was a component of the data conversion validation procedures performed in order to assess the completements and accuracy of the data conversion. Identify critical data elements to be abstracted and compared, create a mapping of fields, perform the reconciliation, identify and document the variances, update the reconciliation based on additional documentation, and summarize the results.

Contract Remdiation

Helped kick-off the engagement and create the SOP for analyzing, remediating, and reviewing lease contracts within SAP-RE. Trained new team members on how to analyze the lease contracts and amendments as well as enter/update the data within SAP-RE. Aided as a primary reviewer and executed the workflow for entry into SAP. Created our team’s SOP for analyzing, remediating, and reviewing lease contracts within SAP. Trained new team members on how to analyze the source lease contracts and amendments as well as how to enter/update the data within SAP.
